As 2024 just closed its chapter, it’s the perfect time to look back and reflect on the memories that made the year special! From either big milestones or just simple joys of happiness. Everyone has a moment in the year that stands out to them.
Now we asked some people multiple questions about 2024, and this is what they said.
“Something I accomplished in 2024 is being able to make more friends when coming to a new school. It was also one of my favorite memories coming to a new school and being able to meet new friends and experience new things,” Freshman Amara Gholson said.
“My favorite memory in 2024 is getting to work with my daughter [Ms. Rearick in the science department]. To see her go from being a student here to being my co-worker is an amazing experience. The ability to share experiences at work or bounce ideas off each other is a great advantage. Few people get to have the experience of having a child become their peer, but that I get to have this experience is great and I am very proud of her,” History teacher Ms. Rearick said.
“My greatest accomplishment in 2024 is figuring out how I learn. It took me a long time to understand what was happening in my classes. Fortunately, in 2024 I learned how to understand confusing things, which will help me in the future from now to 30 years. I also learned that you can’t wait till the last moment to try. Every moment you put in the work is time well spent towards success. I am so grateful for the opportunities that I had this last year to improve academically and socially. I have made new friends and improved my relationships with the friends I already have by learning these things,” Junior Ethan Zink said.
“My favorite moment from 2024 was going to Disneyland for my birthday.” Freshman Suriel Lopez Lopez said
“My favorite memory is my birthday,” Freshman Bryanna Garcia Antuez said.
“2024 was one of the most important years of my life. I had a lot of experiences that taught me many lessons. There’s a quote that really resonates with me that says: ‘You are who you surround yourself with.’ In 2024, I lost friends, not because we got into arguments or hated each other, but because I realized all my closest friends were the same friends that would go out partying, get bad grades, and overall just do unproductive activities. While I was with those friends, I would partake in those same activities. It was only after I distanced myself that I realized that my friends had a huge impact on what I did and how I acted. So I guess the lesson I learned in 2024 that I’ll carry into 2025 is: keep your inner circle small,” Senior Boston Gadsby said.
“In 2024, I ran a half marathon! That’s 13.1 miles all at the same time with no stopping or walking,” Math teacher, Mr. Mrozinski said.
“My favorite moment of 2024 is watching my cousin celebrate senior night. I’m really going to miss them so much,” Freshman Derek Lopez said.
“Something I’ve accomplished in 2024 that I’m proud of is getting involved with new groups and trying out sports because it allowed me to be myself and make lots of new friendships,” Freshman Essence Maxey said.
“Something I accomplished and am proud of from 2024 is participating in the fall play and it was really nice meeting other people,” Freshman Liliana Garcia said.
This year was also full of exciting events that brought us together like powderpuff, assembly, and even more! Moments like these really remind us how time can go by so fast and how much we celebrate as a community all together!
As we remember the year, it’s clear that moments matter no matter how small or little and use the opportunity to grow and be a better version of yourself! Now as days passed, we know wait to see what 2025 future holds for us.

I like this story a lot because it shows how different everybody’s years can be. We might get too focused on ourselves and what we had going on so its cool to see other perspectives.

I love the use of descriptive and colorful pictures to represent the subject at hand. I also like how you asked a teacher as well; there is a lot of diversity in the answers.
