Starting high school is a big change. Most freshmen feel nervous and excited at the same time. Everything is new, new teachers, new classes, and new people. Some students feel scared about getting lost or not knowing anyone.
Many freshmen think high school is harder than middle school. The classes move faster, and there’s more homework. Some students feel stressed trying to keep up, but others like the challenge and feel proud of doing more grown-up work.
A lot of freshmen enjoy the freedom in high school. You get to choose some classes and join fun clubs or sports. You also meet more people and make new friends. It might take time to find your group, but most freshmen say they start to feel more comfortable after a few weeks.
In the beginning, high school can feel confusing, but most students figure it out. Freshmen learn a lot, not just in class, but also about themselves. Over time, high school becomes a place where they grow and make it!
Thomas Fischer, a freshman, said, “High school seemed scary at first, but it’s not as bad as I thought.”
Emmalyn Garza, a freshman, said, “High school is harder than middle school, but I like the challenge.”
Sebastian Garcia, a freshman, said, “It’s scary being around other students, but they don’t really bother you.”
Benjamen Lopez, a freshman, said, “The teachers expect more from us, but also treat us like adults”.
Adriana Espinoza Marquez, a freshman, said, “I was really nervous before, but now I actually like it here.”
Kevin Palacios, a freshman, said, “There is more homework, but also more fun stuff to do”
