Cheering the football team into victory, the Greenway spirit line creates so many memories and fun times together. Spirit line gives these girls great opportunities to experience new things and gain leadership. The spirit line coach Ms. Franzen said, “The teams main strengths this season are definitely their bond as friends and a team as well as their determination to want to learn new things and to be their best. These strengths will benefit them because it will not only allow them to achieve more complex skills in both routines and sidelines, but to put out amazing routines each performance. Their positive and electric energy will also not only make games and pep rallies more fun, but will hopefully encourage the student body to participate in all school functions and support all of our amazing athletic programs and clubs.”

The girls connection is strong which is a crucial part to working well as a team. “I might be biased, but I would highly recommend our cheer program to anyone with an interest in this sport. While cheer is hard and does require discipline and accountability, it more so is an experience where you will gain a whole new set of friends with a same interest and goal as you as well as have your own personal journey of self growth as a student athlete.” coach Franzen says. The girls love and enjoy the spirit line season when it comes around with many things to look forward to.

One of the teams captains, Senior Lisara Oliver says, “I am very excited for the new season. I am most excited about putting new stunts/pyramids together and getting to know the girls better. My favorite memory from my time on the Greenway Spirit line is watching girls get a new tumbling skill down and being able to do it in the routines. I am hoping to make some more fun memories especially with the girls who are new to the team this year. I really enjoy being a captain. It’s really fun and I love having the responsibility of it. I also really like being able to feel like the girls can trust me and ask me questions about anything.”

the other team captain, Sayonette Martinez Terrazas says “I am super excited for this new season! I am most excited to cheer at the football games and perform at pep-rallies and assemblies. My favorite memory was going to UCA camp and creating a special bond with my team. I am hoping to make many new memories during my senior season like hitting new stunts and getting to compete. I really enjoy being a captain of my team because I get to be someone they can count on both off and on the mat! I love being able to lead a group of such talented and hardworking athletes who share my love for the sport.”

Just as much as returners, maybe even more, newcomers are excited to do this for the first time, Senior Aubree Hough says “As a newcomer, I am thrilled to experience the excitement of games with this team. Attending cheer camp over the summer was something I was looking forward to, and it was an unforgettable experience that exceeded my expectations. I had so much fun learning and bonding with the team, and the memories I made there are ones I will carry with me for the rest of my life. I am also looking forward to the many opportunities that Spirit line seniors enjoy. Even though I haven’t been here as long as the other seniors, they have never made me feel unwelcome and always encourage everyone. I would highly recommend Spirit line to anyone who has experience or is eager to learn. Although I have never been part of a team sport before, Spirit line has already taught me so much—about the strength of the bonds I share with my teammates and the courage it takes to trust others.”

Spirit line is a great way to make new friends, experience new things, and make memories that will last a lifetime.
“Your take away from this program won’t only be new friends, but also a sense of pride for our school and specifically our program. I will strive for you to learn new skills in both tumbling and stunts. I can also only hope that you will grow in so many other skills including time management, mental toughness, building a positive team camaraderie, selflessness, integrity, and confidence in yourself.”
