Our chapter DECA advisor, Mr. Ramsey explains, “Deca stands for Distributive Education Clubs of America” .

DECA is a business club for high school students, a club in which, teaches students how to belong in the world of business and marketing. Mr. Ramsey says ” you can learn critical thinking and applying solutions to real world / workplace problems”. DECA hosts competitive events/ roleplays at different levels, there are regionals, state, and international. There are also different events, including, business management and administration, entrepreneurship, finance, hospitality and tourism, marketing, and personal financial literacy (Mr. Ramsey). Each competitor has a different time, everyone goes into different sections and makes it to different levels of competition.
The location of DECA International “differs every year”, Usually staying around big amusement parks for easier access (Mr. Ramsey). This year Internationals will be hosted in Atlanta Georgia, and last year it was Florida. In each state students will go to their districts regionals and their states state competition, for Arizona, that is looking like Arizona Grand Resort and Spa.

Students should join DECA for the experiences and opportunities it gives you. DECA teaches skills you cant find in any other program. students experience business first hand and the world of marketing before being thrown into it straight out of high school.

For our school, DECA has already won 34 medals at just regionals this year, with the last time we won internationals being in 2024 (Mr. Ramsey). To join DECA you have to be in a marketing class, DECA is a requirement for the 3-4 and advanced marketing class, but 1-2 students get to choose whether they are in it or not (Mr. Ramsey). Role plays force you to think on the spot an writing events help you with strategic thinking (Mr. Ramsey). DECA is something every student should consider next to sports and activiites. DECA betters and readies students for the strategy marketing world.
