As some may know, Greenway’s beloved Ms. Fowler just had surgery to remove cancer and she is now in recovery. I wanted to make a story just for when she comes back, so she can see how loved and missed she was. I asked people about some of their favorite memories, stories, and her overall impact here at Greenway.

I asked one of Ms. Fowler’s good teacher friends, Ms. Gould, what her favorite memory with Ms. Fowler was.
“Here is my favorite memory with Ms. Fowler:
One of my favorite memories of my teacher friend, Ms. Fowler, has to be the time we competed in a Kristen Stewart celebrity look-alike contest. This was back in my first few years of teaching, when I found out that Ms. Fowler’s favorite movie was Twilight. Once we heard about the contest, we were completely committed. We spent about a month preparing like this was the opportunity of a lifetime. We each had to perform a monologue from one of Kristen Stewart’s movies, so of course, Fowler chose Twilight, while I went with Zathura: A Space Adventure. We worked on sewing our own costumes, getting the makeup just right, and making sure every detail was perfect.
When the day finally came, we traveled all the way to Tucson together, excited and fully in character. We got there, did our monologues, and felt pretty proud of ourselves for all the effort we had put in. Then came the moment we realized something had gone horribly, hilariously wrong: it was not actually a Kristen Stewart look-alike contest. It was an Anna Kendrick look-alike contest hosted by Kristen Stewart! After all that preparation, the costumes, the monologues, and the drive to Tucson, we had somehow entered the completely wrong celebrity contest. Even so, we still managed to place 12th and 18th, respectively, which honestly feels impressive considering the circumstances. To this day, it remains one of my favorite Ms. Fowler memories because it perfectly captures our willingness to go all in, even when we are very confidently going in the wrong direction.”

I also asked Ms. Kestle if she had any words of good luck or just a message she would like to share for Ms. Fowler.
“I am happy you are back and are healing. I wish you continued strength in your recovery. “

I asked Ms. Ferguson, What impact has Ms. Fowler made on your experience at Greenway.
“She has made a meaningful impact on my experience at Greenway both as a mentor and as a colleague. Having known her first as my tennis and basketball coach, I already understood the level of dedication, leadership, and care she brings to her students and athletes. Now, getting the opportunity to teach and coach alongside her has deepened that appreciation even more.”

Next, I asked Ms. Rearick what impact Ms. Fowler has made on her Greenway experience.
“Mrs. Fowler has made an incredible impact on me both as a student at Greenway, and now as a teacher. When I first came to Greenway, I had moved school districts which was scary as a freshman because it meant I didn’t know anyone going into high school. Mrs. Fowler created a Literacy Club which allowed all of us teacher’s kids to not only meet each other, but work together and through that build relationships that have lasted over a decade. Because of Mrs. Fowler, I have lifelong friends including her son who is my best friend. As a coworker, Mrs. Fowler continues to help everyone feel included and build a community here at Greenway. She still, to this day, will come find me personally to make sure I am doing alright and invite me to teacher events so that I can feel included as I am still new to the school.”
It is very clear that Ms. Fowler is a key part of Greenway, and we are all wishing her the best recovery.
