Mr. McRae said,” I am one of the school counselors so have not taught in a classroom in over 10 years. But when I did my favorite class to teach was Architectural drafting. I have many fond memories of helping students design & build scale model homes in Building 1.

2008 was a particularly good group of dedicated senior students who made the class very rewarding. One of those students was able to get a job using the software he learned and went on to have a very successful career in the manufacturing design industry. This student (Cody Berg) also dated and is married to our dance teacher Ms. Berg who also attended Greenway back then.
My worst year was probably my 1st year teaching back in 1999 because I was brand new and didn’t have a clue what I was doing. I remember thinking it’s not for me and wanting to quit. Thank goodness a couple of great mentor teachers (one of them being Mr. Johnson) persuaded me to stick with it and I haven’t looked back since.” It’s great that he can break through like that and shows how people want to give up all the time. But even teachers need good mentors and Mr. Johnson is obviously a really good one.
Ms. Gould said, “Honestly every year ends up being my favorite in its own way. I love that I get to bring back lessons and activities I’ve used for years and try out brand-new ideas with each group of students. The students here at Greenway have always been incredible, so every year feels special for different reasons.

The most challenging year was definitely during the pandemic quarantine. It was a scary and uncertain time for everyone, and teaching online came with a whole new set of obstacles. But my students were so resilient. They showed up, adapted, and made the best out of a really tough situation. I’m genuinely grateful for how hard they tried and how flexible they were with all the virtual learning changes.
Overall, I’ve really loved my years of teaching especially because I get to do it here at Greenway. Our community is so supportive, our students are amazing, and my colleagues make this such a great place to work. We’re an A+ school for a reason, and I feel proud to be part of it every single day.” I honestly love this response of hers she explains the obstacles she has and it’s amazing not everyone talks about them or explains them and shows that she is a really amazing teacher.
Ms. McDonald said, “My most memorable year was the 2016-2017 school year. I had amazing kids who loved to participate fully in class and were so fun and respectful to everyone in class. This happened to be the year that the Nelson sisters (yes, the volleyball coaches) were in class together. This year was special because there was a solid group of girls who were so positive with all students and didn’t make anyone feel bad for not being super athletic. Because of this leadership, all students participated and got along and had fun in class.

Overall in my 27 years of teaching, I have not had any super bad experiences. Kids learn to respect and grow up pretty quick and that makes teaching enjoyable.” I think this is good no bad experiences with 27 years of teaching just shows how quickly high schoolers learn to grow up when needed.
